Journal
Log new trades through the 3-phase flow, then review your complete trading history.
The Journal has two tabs: Trades, where you log and review your trading history, and Prop Accounts, where you manage evaluation and funded accounts if you trade on a prop firm. The sections below cover the Trades tab — Prop Accounts has its own dedicated doc.
Logging a new trade
The 3-phase flow that turns a workflow into a journal entry.
Click New Trade in the top-right of the Trades tab. The form opens inline and walks you through three phases — the same phases you defined in the Edge Builder.
Pick a workflow
The first thing you choose. The list shows your saved workflows from the Edge Builder. If you haven't built one yet, the form points you there. You can change your mind via the ← Change Workflow button until you save the first phase.
Pre-Trade
Fixed fields at the top, plus your Pre-Trade workflow steps:
- Symbol — auto-uppercases as you type. Recent symbols appear as quick-pick chips when the field is focused
- Direction — Long or Short toggle
- Entry Price
- Stop Loss (optional)
- Take Profits (optional) — click + Add TP Level to add up to 5 price targets. Each level can be removed individually
- Playbook (optional) — tag the trade with a strategy from your playbooks. Selected playbook's reference images preview inline
Below those fields, your Pre-Trade workflow steps render. A progress bar shows how many you've completed. Click Next Phase → to save and move on. The trade exists in the database from this point — even if you bail before completing later phases.
Execution
A header strip pinned at the top shows what trade you're logging (symbol, direction, entry price). Your Execution workflow steps render below with the same progress bar pattern. Click Next Phase → when done, or ← Previous Phase to go back.
Post-Trade
Same step-rendering pattern. Below the steps, an optional Close This Trade section lets you record exit details now:
- Exit Price
- Position Size (shares or contracts)
- Fees
As you fill these in, an estimated P&L panel updates live. Click Complete Trade to finish. If you skip the close-out section, the trade stays open and you can close it later from the table.
Browsing your trades
The table view, with filtering, sorting, and a stats bar.
Stats bar
A strip above the table shows three numbers for whatever's currently filtered: Trades (count), P&L (sum across closed trades), and Win Rate.
Filters
The filter bar above the table lets you narrow by:
- Symbol — text search
- Status — All / Open / Closed
- Direction — All / Long / Short
- Date range — from / to
- Playbook — appears if you have any
- Account — appears if you have prop accounts; includes a “Personal Only” option to see trades not tied to any prop account
- Tag chips — appear below the filter row if you've tagged trades. Click to filter, click again to clear
- Sort — sort the visible trades by various fields
When any filter is active, a Clear button appears to reset everything.
Table columns
The table always shows: Date, Symbol, Direction, Status, Entry, Exit, P&L, plus action buttons. Six more columns are hidden by default and toggleable via the gear icon in the Actions header:
| Optional column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Duration | Time between trade creation and close |
| Fees | Closing fees you entered |
| Notes | Click the cell to edit notes inline |
| Tags | Tags applied to this trade |
| Playbook | Playbook the trade was tagged with |
| Account | Prop account the trade was logged against |
For lists over 50 trades, the table virtualizes scrolling so it stays fast.
Working with individual trades
Detail view, closing, duplicating, deleting, inline edits.
Open the detail dialog
Click any row to open the trade detail dialog — full data, all phase responses, the workflow used, and timestamps.
Close an open trade
Open trades show a Close button in the Actions column. Clicking it opens a dialog where you enter exit price, position size, and fees — same fields as the in-form close-out, just from the table side.
Duplicate
The copy icon in the Actions column duplicates the trade as a new entry. Useful when you take the same setup again and don't want to re-enter everything.
Delete
The trash icon deletes a single trade after a confirmation prompt. Deletion is permanent.
Inline notes
With the Notes column visible, click any notes cell to edit inline. Click outside the cell to save.
Compare and bulk actions
Two checkbox columns, two purposes.
Compare 2 trades
The leftmost column has violet compare checkboxes. Select up to two trades and a Compare 2 trades button appears in the page header — opens a side-by-side view of both trades' phase responses and metrics.
Multi-select and bulk delete
The second checkbox column is for multi-select. Pick multiple trades, then a Delete N trades button appears in the header. Use the header checkbox to select or deselect every visible row.
